Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.
Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.
Success also indicates he has won 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
His counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
